Singapore continues to honour its National Servicemen through a new initiative that provides financial recognition for their service. The National Service LifeSG Credits program has been introduced as a way to acknowledge both past and present servicemen, offering them $200 in digital credits that can be used across participating merchants.
What Are the National Service LifeSG Credits
The LifeSG Credits are part of a government initiative to show appreciation for those who have served in National Service. Eligible servicemen receive $200 in credits that are automatically distributed through the LifeSG mobile application. The credits are valid for one year from the date of issue, after which any unused balance will expire.
The initiative is designed not only as a gesture of gratitude but also as a way to boost local spending, with a wide network of participating businesses accepting payments made using the credits.
Who Is Eligible
The credits are available to two main groups of servicemen. First, they cover all Full-Time National Servicemen (NSFs) who have enlisted on or before 31 December 2024. Second, they include Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen), whether they are still serving or have already completed their obligations.
There is no need for servicemen to apply. Eligibility checks are conducted automatically, and those who qualify are notified through SMS and official letters.
How the Credits Are Distributed
The disbursement of the LifeSG Credits takes place automatically once eligibility is confirmed. Servicemen can find the credits under the “Your Benefits” section of the LifeSG mobile app. Notifications are sent both by SMS and by letter to ensure that every recipient is informed clearly and promptly.
This streamlined process removes the need for applications or paperwork, ensuring a smooth experience for all eligible servicemen.
Where the Credits Can Be Used
The credits can be used at a wide variety of merchants across Singapore. Payments can be made using PayNow UEN QR codes or NETS QR codes, allowing servicemen to spend the credits both online and in physical stores.
Many businesses have joined the program, with some offering special promotions or discounts when payments are made through the LifeSG Credits. This makes the $200 go further, providing additional value to recipients.
Option for Hardcopy Vouchers
While the LifeSG Credits are primarily digital, there is an option for servicemen who may not be comfortable with mobile transactions. Hardcopy vouchers can be requested by contacting the NS Call Centre, either by toll-free telephone or by email.
This ensures that those less familiar with digital payment systems are not left out and can still make use of their entitlement.

To assist servicemen in making full use of their credits, several support channels are available. The LifeSG Helpdesk provides technical assistance for mobile app issues, while SG Digital Community Hubs and ServiceSG Centres offer face-to-face guidance.
In addition, a detailed FAQ section and usage guide are available, giving step-by-step instructions on how to redeem the credits at participating merchants.
